Elijah Moore Explains Why He Chose to Sign With the Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills recently added wide receiver Elijah Moore, formerly with the Browns and Jets, to their roster. Known for his elite speed—clocking a 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine—Moore brings explosive playmaking potential to a receiving corps that already includes Rashid Shaheed, 2024 second-round pick Keon Coleman, and free-agent acquisition Joshua Palmer.
After being given an unrestricted free agent tender by Cleveland, Moore quickly found a new home in Buffalo. On Monday, he shared what influenced his decision to join the team, pointing to one main factor: quarterback Josh Allen. Moore said the choice felt clear and meaningful, even calling it “very, very easy.” He noted that he repeatedly came across Allen’s jersey number 17, which he interpreted as a sign.
Moore also highlighted Allen’s reputation not just as a talented quarterback, but as a high-character person. The wide receiver said that feedback from within the organization and around the league confirmed what he had heard—Allen was someone he wanted to play with. That, combined with his own faith and the support of his wife, made the decision straightforward.
Moore signed a one-year deal with Buffalo and emphasized that nothing is promised. He’s ready to earn his place and contribute however he can. He also did his homework on the Bills organization before finalizing his decision, which reaffirmed his interest in joining the team.
Although Rashid Shaheed is expected to start the season as the top wideout, the Bills’ depth chart at receiver remains flexible. Moore’s deep-threat ability could make him a major asset if Allen makes full use of his speed. In a quarterback-driven offense that favors spreading the ball around, Moore could quietly become one of the more impactful receivers in the AFC East.
