Potential NC State Basketball Transfer Target Now Leaning Elsewhere
NC State’s recent addition to its roster may have lessened its chances of landing another top transfer. On Friday, the Wolfpack secured a commitment from Congolese center Paul Mbiya, a move that could impact their pursuit of former Louisville big man James Scott. The 6-foot-11, 220-pound Fayetteville, N.C. native is now taking an official visit to Auburn, which some national analysts believe has emerged as the new frontrunner for his commitment.

Scott, who began his college career at the College of Charleston before becoming a starting center at Louisville last season, entered the transfer portal just before the deadline two weeks ago. NC State’s new head coach Will Wade and his staff were among the first programs to show serious interest.
In his sophomore season, Scott posted averages of 7.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 23.6 minutes per game, while shooting an impressive 75.5% from the field. His performance helped Louisville to a 27-8 record and a second-place finish in the ACC.
