Illini Commits David Mirkovic and Mihailo Petrovic Impress in Adriatic League Matchup
Future Illinois basketball players David Mirkovic and Mihailo Petrovic went head-to-head in an Adriatic League game in Belgrade on Monday. Both are set to join Brad Underwood’s Illini squad for the 2025–26 season and are currently wrapping up their seasons with professional teams overseas.
In a closely contested game, Petrovic helped lead Mega Superbet to an 83–81 victory over SC Derby, sealing the win with a clutch basket with just 1.9 seconds remaining. The 22-year-old Serbian guard has been a key contributor during Mega’s five-game winning streak, hitting multiple game-winners and currently ranking 10th in the league in scoring (14.3 points per game) and second in assists (7.3 per game).
On the other side, Mirkovic continues to build a solid resume. The 19-year-old forward, who recently played in the Nike Hoop Summit for Team World, has averaged 10.7 points and 7.1 rebounds over 42 games with SC Derby this season. His size and consistency make him a promising addition to the Illini frontcourt.
Both players showcased their talents and potential in Monday’s matchup, giving Illinois fans a glimpse of what’s to come next season.
