Boise State Adds Australian Transfer Alma Taleni to Offensive Line
Boise State football has announced the addition of offensive lineman Alma Taleni, a transfer from the University of Utah. Taleni will arrive in Boise as a redshirt freshman and will have four years of eligibility remaining. His commitment adds depth and international athletic talent to the Broncos’ offensive line group.
Originally from Coomera, Australia, Taleni’s path to American football has been unconventional. He had no prior experience playing the sport before joining Utah in 2024. Despite that, his athletic potential and physical tools earned him an opportunity to develop within a major college football program.
Before his move to football, Taleni had a strong background in basketball. He played for the North Gold Coast Seahawks in 2020, where he averaged 3.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. His performance showcased his agility, size, and coordination—traits that can translate well to the offensive line in football.
In addition to his time with the Seahawks, Taleni competed in the NBL1, a semi-professional basketball league in Australia. His experience in a competitive sports environment has helped him adapt quickly to new challenges, including transitioning to a new sport at the collegiate level in the United States.
Boise State continues to build its roster with both traditional and non-traditional athletes. The addition of Taleni reflects the program’s willingness to develop raw talent and invest in long-term potential. As he begins his career with the Broncos, Taleni will be a player to watch as he continues to grow into his role on the offensive line.
