Illinois Adds Key Transfer in Former ACC Standout Andrej Stojakovic
Illinois has secured a major addition for the 2025–26 season by landing transfer guard Andrej Stojakovic, a former standout in the ACC. The talented 6-foot-7 guard, originally from Carmichael, California, will join the Illini after spending his first two college seasons at Stanford and California.
Stojakovic, the son of former NBA player Peja Stojakovic, was a top-25 recruit in the 2023 class. He began his college career at Stanford, where he averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game as a freshman. After a coaching change at Stanford, he transferred to Cal, where he became a breakout star in the Golden Bears’ first season in the ACC.
As a sophomore, Stojakovic averaged 17.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He ranked sixth in the conference in scoring and was among the top shot blockers as well. His season included several impressive performances, particularly in the ACC Tournament, where he scored 29 points in a double-overtime win over Virginia Tech, followed by a career-high 37 points in a loss to Stanford.
Despite missing part of the season due to injury, his late-season surge caught the attention of programs across the country. His blend of size, scoring ability, and playmaking makes him a highly valuable piece for an Illinois squad looking to reload after key departures.
Stojakovic joins a retooling Illinois roster under head coach Brad Underwood. He’s expected to play a central role alongside returning players like Kylan Boswell and Ty Rodgers. With the addition of other international talent, including the Ivisic brothers, Illinois is building a diverse and talented team that hopes to remain a contender in the Big Ten and beyond.
