Dallas Cowboys Reportedly Eyeing Reunion With Five-Time Pro Bowl Receiver
Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys were widely expected to target a wide receiver to complement star CeeDee Lamb. Many analysts believed they might select Tetairoa McMillan in the first round, but he was taken by the Carolina Panthers with the 8th overall pick. Another potential option, Matthew Golden, was available later, but the Cowboys instead selected Alabama guard Tyler Booker with the 12th pick. Golden eventually went to the Green Bay Packers at No. 23.
Despite having nine total picks, Dallas chose not to draft a single wide receiver, leaving questions about how they plan to strengthen the position. Team owner Jerry Jones has since confirmed the Cowboys remain open to adding external help at wide receiver.
According to a report by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys are showing growing interest in bringing back free agent Amari Cooper. The veteran receiver, who previously played in Dallas from 2018 to 2021, remains unsigned and could be a strong fit for the current roster.
While the Cowboys have reportedly explored potential trades with at least one AFC North team, those talks did not progress during the draft. However, interest in upgrading the receiver group hasn’t faded. Alongside Cooper, other free agent names such as Keenan Allen, Nelson Agholor, and Robert Woods are also being monitored.
Whether the Cowboys ultimately pursue a trade or look to free agency, it’s clear they are still exploring options to bolster their receiver corps heading into the 2025 season.
