Bills GM Brandon Beane Claps Back at Draft Critics: ‘You Were Complaining About Josh Allen Too’
Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane didn’t hold back when addressing criticism of the team’s draft decisions, particularly regarding its wide receiver depth. Appearing on The Jeremy & Joe Show on WGR 550 Monday morning to discuss the 2025 NFL Draft, Beane quickly took aim at the hosts for what he felt was a familiar pattern of skepticism.
“I was listening to the last few minutes of your show before I came on,” Beane said. “It sounded like déjà vu from 2018.”
Co-host Jeremy White asked for clarification, to which Beane responded sharply: “You were complaining back then about Josh Allen. You wanted Josh Rosen. And now you’re complaining that we don’t have receivers. I don’t get it. We just scored 30-plus points for eight games straight. Last year, I could understand some concern, but not now. We led the league in points, even counting the postseason—more than the Super Bowl winners.”
Beane emphasized that the Bills thrived offensively even after trading star receiver Stefon Diggs, using the same core group. “How is this not an upgrade from last year?” he asked. “Our job is to score points and win. And we’ve done that.”
White pushed back, noting that the show had praised parts of the Bills’ draft. But Beane doubled down, arguing that some expectations are unrealistic.
“This isn’t fantasy football. You can’t stockpile elite receivers, linemen, a top quarterback, and great running backs all at once,” Beane said. “There’s only one ball. We’re focused on building a complete team that wins—not just satisfying highlight reels.”
Although wide receiver was widely considered a priority for Buffalo heading into the draft, the team waited until the seventh round to address it. However, with Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, and newly extended Khalil Shakir expected to lead the receiver room in 2025, the situation may not be as concerning as some think.
Still, it’s natural for reporters and radio hosts to question the approach—and just as natural for Beane, with a proven track record and a fiery attitude, to fire back.
