Buffalo entered the 2025 NFL Draft with two primary needs: cornerback and defensive tackle. On the first night of the draft, they addressed one of those by selecting Kentucky cornerback Max Hairston with the 30th overall pick. However, it appears they had serious interest in another player just a couple of spots earlier.
Defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, taken 28th overall by the Detroit Lions, told reporters that the Bills had expressed strong interest in him prior to the draft. During his introductory press conference, Williams shared that Buffalo had similar conversations with him as the Lions did, including talks with head coach Sean McDermott and defensive line coach Marcus West.
“They told me they liked my game and how I play,” Williams said. “If I had still been there, I think they would’ve taken me.” Williams had visited Buffalo before the draft and was projected by many analysts to go in the late first or early second round. It’s likely that the Bills had him ranked as a first-round talent.
Since Buffalo opted for a cornerback in the first round, they’re now expected to target a defensive tackle on the second night of the draft. Several prospects who visited the team during the pre-draft process remain available, including Deone Walker, T.J. Sanders, Ty Robinson, and Omarr Norman-Lott. Florida State’s Joshua Farmer is another name to watch, as the team maintained close contact with him leading up to the draft.
The Bills hold two picks on Day 2: No. 56 and No. 62 overall. With defensive tackle still a key need, fans can expect Buffalo to focus on strengthening their defensive front in the next round.
