Amari Cooper Trade Nearly Complete Following 2025 NFL Draft
The Cleveland Browns’ trade of wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills, initiated during the October 2024 trade deadline, is now nearly finalized with the completion of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Trade Details:
- Browns Received: 2025 third-round pick (No. 94 overall), 2026 seventh-round pick
- Bills Received: Amari Cooper, 2025 sixth-round pick
Buffalo’s Use of the Pick: Buffalo’s sixth-round pick (No. 204) was included in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys as part of the deal for Kaiir Elam. The Cowboys used that pick to draft Oregon offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius.
Cleveland’s Use of the Pick: Cleveland used the third-round pick (No. 94) to draft Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, a move that surprised many analysts. The Browns still hold the seventh-round pick for the 2026 draft.
Amari Cooper’s Performance in Buffalo: Cooper made an early impact, scoring a touchdown in his debut. However, he struggled with injuries and ended the regular season with 20 receptions for 297 yards and two touchdowns across eight games. In the playoffs, he added six catches for 41 yards.
Trade Outcome: The Browns appear to have come out ahead in the trade. They received valuable draft capital for a player who had limited availability due to injury and were able to add a potential future quarterback during a transitional season.
Trade Winner: Cleveland Browns
