Aaron Judge Not Worried About Juan Soto’s Slow Start With Mets — A Tale of Two Superstars
After a standout 2024 season with the Yankees, Juan Soto joined the New York Mets in free agency, leaving behind a memorable, if short-lived, stint in the Bronx. His transition to the Mets has started off slow, raising concerns among fans and media. However, Yankees captain Aaron Judge isn’t worried. In fact, he believes Soto will bounce back quickly.
Judge praised Mets slugger Pete Alonso, saying Soto now has one of the best hitters in the game batting behind him. He added that slumps happen, even referencing his own struggles last April when he hit just .207. At the time, it was Soto who carried the Yankees offensively, batting .325 with 25 RBIs through April.
Now, the roles are reversed. Judge remains the heart of the Yankees’ lineup, providing power and leadership, while Soto is adjusting to a new environment in Queens. Both are central to their teams’ success, but their situations differ. Judge has the stability of being the long-term face of the Yankees, supported by players like Cody Bellinger and Gleyber Torres. Meanwhile, Soto is establishing himself as the cornerstone of a Mets offense that features stars like Alonso and Francisco Lindor.
Though Soto isn’t yet matching last year’s numbers, he’s recently begun to heat up with back-to-back home runs. With Alonso hitting well, pitchers will have a tough time navigating the top of the Mets’ lineup. The Yankees and Mets may no longer share these two stars, but both franchises are counting on them to have MVP-caliber seasons in 2025.
