Green Bay Packers Reportedly Interested in Trading for Steelers WR George Pickens
The Green Bay Packers are reportedly exploring a trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, aiming to finally secure a true No. 1 target after the departure of Davante Adams in 2022.
According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Packers have had discussions with the Steelers and are “serious” about their interest in Pickens. Pittsburgh is reportedly open to offers for the third-year receiver, and other teams are also monitoring his availability.
While Pickens has shown flashes of high-level play and became the Steelers’ top receiving option, the team may be ready to move on. One key factor is the acquisition of Pro Bowl wideout DK Metcalf earlier in the offseason, whom the Steelers signed to a significant contract extension—likely making it difficult to justify paying Pickens at a premium as well.
Additionally, Pickens has faced criticism for his on-field demeanor and inconsistency, which could be influencing Pittsburgh’s willingness to listen to trade offers.
Green Bay appears to believe that a new environment could help Pickens reach his potential. He would join one of the NFL’s youngest rosters and benefit from a more stable quarterback situation compared to Pittsburgh’s current uncertainty under center.
Since being drafted in the second round in 2022, Pickens has recorded 174 receptions for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.
