Carlos Rodón Shares What Continues to Surprise Him About Aaron Judge
New York Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodón has once again spoken highly of his teammate Aaron Judge, reaffirming his belief in Judge’s elite abilities. Rodón, who previously referred to Judge as the best hitter in the game during the 2024 World Series, offered fresh praise after a dominant outing against the Cleveland Guardians.
Following his seven-inning, eight-strikeout performance in a 5-1 win over Cleveland, Rodón was asked if anything about Judge still surprises him. His response? “I’m just surprised when he gets out,” showing just how consistently impressed he is by Judge’s talent.
In that same game, Judge tallied two hits, one RBI, and scored a run. His performance this season has been stellar—he’s currently batting .415 with seven home runs, 26 RBIs, and 39 hits through the first month of play. Meanwhile, Rodón bounced back after a rough statistical start with the Yankees, where he had allowed 51 home runs over his first 50 appearances.
Rodón didn’t hold back on the comparisons either. He likened Judge’s current form to Hall of Fame legend Tony Gwynn and predicted that Judge might resemble Hank Aaron next. “This week, we saw the speed and his ability to hit. I’m excited to see what comes next,” he said.
Since debuting in 2017, Judge has been the face of the Yankees, earning comparisons to legends like Babe Ruth. He holds the American League record for most home runs in a single season with 62 (set in 2022), and matched Ruth’s total of 321 homers in his first 1,000 games.
Judge is a two-time American League MVP (2022, 2024) and currently serves as Yankees captain—a title once held by iconic players such as Lou Gehrig, Thurman Munson, and Derek Jeter.
