Phillies Provide Update on Brandon Marsh
The Philadelphia Phillies have shared a promising update on outfielder Brandon Marsh, who is currently on the 10-day injured list due to a hamstring strain. The team announced via their official X (formerly Twitter) account that Marsh will begin a rehab assignment with their Triple-A affiliate, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, on Thursday night.
Marsh, a fan-favorite known for his speed, long hair, and beard, is eligible to return from the injured list on Sunday. While his recovery remains the priority, his stint in the minors also gives him a chance to refine his batting.
So far in the 2025 season, Marsh has struggled offensively. He’s hitting just .095 with a .387 OPS and an 11 OPS+, recording only one extra-base hit (a home run), no stolen bases, and a 16-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Upon his return, Marsh is expected to continue platooning in center field, especially against right-handed pitchers. However, Johan Rojas is making a strong case for more playing time. In 41 at-bats, Rojas is hitting .317 with a .729 OPS and a 106 OPS+, and while he doesn’t offer much power, he’s been consistent at the plate.
If Marsh doesn’t improve his offensive numbers, Rojas could eventually take over full-time duties in center field. For now, the focus remains on Marsh’s recovery and performance during his rehab assignment.
