Cowboys Insider Dismisses James Cook Trade Rumors
The Buffalo Bills are in a difficult position with running back James Cook. While the team values his talent, they’re not prepared to meet his reported contract demands of $15 million annually. With just one year remaining on his current deal and extension talks stalled, speculation around his future has begun to grow.
Pro Football Network recently named one potential trade candidate from each NFL team and listed Cook as a possible fit for the Dallas Cowboys. The connection? Cowboys assistant coach Ken Dorsey, who was Cook’s offensive coordinator in Buffalo until 2023.
However, longtime Cowboys insider Mike Fisher strongly disagrees with the possibility of such a move. According to Fisher, there’s no indication that Dallas is pursuing Cook.
“I don’t know where this comes from, but it’s not happening,” Fisher said. “The Cowboys want to improve their run game, and they’re trying to do that with recently signed veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. They’re looking to invest in a more cost-effective option, possibly drafting a running back in the second or third round.”
While Cook could add explosiveness to the Cowboys’ offense, Fisher emphasized that his price tag simply doesn’t align with the team’s current approach, which focuses on affordable contracts and developing new talent through the draft.
In short, while the idea of Cook landing in Dallas might make sense on paper, it’s not expected to become reality.
