Bills Could Trade for Former First-Round Receiver Treylon Burks
The Buffalo Bills haven’t selected a wide receiver in the first round in over a decade, with their last attempt—Sammy Watkins—not panning out as hoped. However, the team might explore acquiring a former first-rounder as a low-risk addition to their offense.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox proposed that Buffalo could be a landing spot for Treylon Burks, a wide receiver drafted in the first round by the Tennessee Titans who has struggled to meet expectations due to injuries and limited production.
Burks as a Low-Risk, High-Upside Target
Burks has had a quiet start to his career, recording just 32 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown over three seasons. With the Titans unlikely to exercise his fifth-year option, Knox suggests Buffalo could trade a late-round pick to give Burks a fresh start.
At just 25 years old, Burks still offers significant physical potential. He could serve as a supporting piece in the Bills’ receiver group, which now features Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, and Khalil Shakir.
Knox also noted the Titans may be open to dealing Burks, especially if they draft quarterback Cam Ward with the top pick, as expected. Moving Burks would allow Tennessee to create space for a more consistent receiver.
Buffalo Still Considering Amari Cooper
Buffalo may also revisit the idea of re-signing veteran receiver Amari Cooper, who joined the team at the trade deadline last season and remains a free agent. Cooper had an inconsistent stretch with the team, even going a full game without a target in a win over the Detroit Lions, but expressed his satisfaction with being part of a contending team.
Now entering his 10th NFL season, Cooper emphasized that winning is his top priority. If terms are favorable, the Bills could bring him back, especially given the team’s history of re-signing familiar players. This offseason, they re-signed cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Tre’Davious White.
Both Burks and Cooper present different options as Buffalo looks to solidify its receiver depth heading into the season.
