Buffalo Bills Waive Tight End Armani Rogers After Second Major Injury
Buffalo Bills tight end Armani Rogers has suffered a major setback, tearing his Achilles tendon, marking his second significant injury in less than two years. With a lengthy recovery ahead, Rogers’ future in the NFL is uncertain, and the Bills have waived him with an injury designation as of April 17.
Rogers, who had joined the team on a reserve/futures contract in January, was hoping to compete for a roster spot during training camp. However, the injury puts his chances of playing in the 2025 season in jeopardy.
Rogers previously endured a torn Achilles while playing for the Washington Commanders in 2022, where he had begun to make a mark with five receptions for 64 yards before the injury. He was waived by the Commanders and spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons in 2024 before signing with the Bills earlier this year.
Interestingly, Rogers has personal ties to Buffalo. He was born in the city during his father Sam Rogers’ NFL career. Sam Rogers was drafted by the Bills in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft and played for Buffalo from 1994 to 2000, earning recognition as a special teams standout.
With Rogers now waived, the Bills could potentially look to add another tight end to their roster. Although they have already made significant investments in the position, including a $52 million extension for Dawson Knox and a first-round pick for Dalton Kincaid in 2023, some analysts suggest the team could target Penn State tight end Tyler Warren in the upcoming draft. The Bills are expected to prioritize other positions like cornerback and defensive line but may still consider Warren if he falls to their pick.
