The Buffalo Bills made some roster moves on Thursday, cutting two players in preparation for the 2025 NFL Draft. As the team prepares to welcome new talent, they are making space for incoming rookies and post-draft acquisitions. The players waived and released were tight end Armani Rogers and defensive tackle Branson Deen.
Rogers was waived due to a non-football injury designation, which suggests that health concerns may have contributed to his departure from the team. The tight end has had a somewhat tumultuous career in the NFL, with past stints at the Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Falcons. His most recent NFL action came in 2022, when he played in 11 games for Washington, starting three. Over his career, he accumulated 90 yards on seven touches.
On the other hand, Branson Deen was released after playing only one game for the Bills in the 2024 season. Deen’s appearance in Week 5 against the Houston Texans was limited, as he participated in just nine defensive snaps and six special teams plays. Despite this minimal playing time, the Bills had shown interest in Deen and signed him to a futures contract earlier in the offseason.
The release of Rogers and Deen signals the Bills’ efforts to clear space on their roster as they prepare for the draft and potentially bring in new players. These moves could allow the team to pursue additional talent to help bolster their roster ahead of the 2025 season. As the draft approaches, the Bills are expected to make more moves to further refine their roster.
Both Rogers and Deen will now be free agents, and it remains to be seen whether other teams will show interest in either player. As for the Bills, their focus will shift to finalizing their draft plans and adding fresh talent to strengthen their team for the upcoming season.
