Aaron Rodgers Denies Waiting on Vikings, Focused on Personal Matters
Aaron Rodgers recently addressed speculation about his NFL future, specifically rumors suggesting he’s holding out in hopes of signing with the Minnesota Vikings. The veteran quarterback made it clear during an appearance on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show on April 17 that those reports are not accurate.
Rodgers stated he is not waiting for the Vikings to reconsider signing him, despite his long-standing relationship with head coach Kevin O’Connell. The two worked out together in San Diego nearly two decades ago, but Rodgers emphasized that his current focus is on personal matters, not contract negotiations.
Though he hasn’t made a final decision regarding retirement or playing in the upcoming season, Rodgers did mention the Pittsburgh Steelers as a potential destination. The team has reportedly extended an offer, and Rodgers shared he would be open to playing for a salary of $10 million—making it clear that financial gain isn’t his top priority.
Despite Pittsburgh appearing to be a strong fit—they made the playoffs last season and have a competitive roster—Rodgers has yet to commit. His hesitation adds uncertainty as the Steelers consider drafting a quarterback with the 21st overall pick in next week’s NFL Draft.
While Rodgers remains a free agent, his next move continues to be a subject of league-wide speculation. With the draft approaching and quarterback options narrowing, all eyes remain on whether he will choose to return for another season or walk away from the game.
