Wendale Farrow Joins South Carolina Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff
The South Carolina women’s basketball team has added Wendale Farrow to its coaching staff, filling the assistant coach position left open after Winston Gandy’s recent departure to become head coach at Grand Canyon University.
Farrow, 37, brings a wealth of experience, having spent the last four years as an assistant at the University of Southern California. Before that, he served five seasons as an assistant at Cal and held a one-year assistant role at Vanderbilt during the 2015–16 season. He began his coaching journey at UCLA in 2013, initially working as a video coordinator.
South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley expressed excitement about the hire, describing Farrow as a well-rounded and accomplished coach. “We struck gold in bringing Wendale into our Gamecock family,” she said. “His experience across all aspects of successful programs—from strategy and player development to recruiting and community involvement—will have a major impact on our team and in Columbia.”
Farrow also has a background as a player. He started his college basketball career at American River Junior College in California before finishing at Eastern Michigan, where he later served as a graduate manager following his graduation in 2009.
