Ohio State is currently leading the race to sign highly rated running back Carsyn Baker, a four-star recruit in the 2026 class. Baker recently shared that the Buckeyes have made a strong impression on him throughout the recruiting process, particularly due to the bond he’s formed with the coaching staff and the legacy of the program.
Speaking with On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Baker emphasized the strong culture at Ohio State and the relationships he’s developed with the coaches. He was especially drawn to the fast-paced practices and the way the team uses its running backs. He described Ohio State as his top school and praised the environment built by head coach Ryan Day.
Baker has scheduled an official visit to Ohio State this June. He also plans to visit Clemson, Florida State, and South Carolina. While Florida and Georgia remain possibilities, those three schools are currently the most serious contenders for his commitment beyond Ohio State.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Baker is ranked as the No. 14 running back in the 2026 class. He’s also listed as the 23rd-best prospect in Georgia and No. 175 nationally. With his size and athleticism—standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 195 pounds—he’s a major target for several top programs.
Baker will play his senior season at Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia, a well-regarded program known for producing top-tier talent. As he goes through his official visits this summer, Ohio State will look to solidify its position and secure his commitment ahead of other major programs.
