Gabriel Landeskog’s Return to the Colorado Avalanche Lineup Appears Likely
There’s been a lot of uncertainty surrounding Gabriel Landeskog’s return to the Colorado Avalanche lineup for the 2024-25 Stanley Cup playoffs. Fans are divided—some are confident he’ll return, while others remain skeptical until they see it. Landeskog himself has been cautious, avoiding setting timelines to prevent potential disappointment if things don’t go as planned.
However, a recent development has sparked optimism. While the Avalanche were in St. Louis to face the Blues, Landeskog wasn’t traveling with the team as he sometimes does. Instead, he participated in practice with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL.
This may initially seem like just another rehab session, but it feels more significant. If Landeskog were only focused on rehab, he could have simply stayed behind and joined the Avalanche later. The fact that he’s practicing with the Eagles suggests that he’s seriously committed to being ready for the postseason.
Because of salary cap constraints, Landeskog won’t play during the regular season, but there’s no cap during the playoffs, meaning he would be free to rejoin the team once the postseason begins.
Avalanche fans can begin to get excited again, as it seems increasingly likely that Landeskog will return this year. Whether he joins the second or fourth line, it will be a momentous occasion for the team and its captain. After years of hard work, fans may soon get to see Landeskog back on the ice.
