Three Players the Bills Should Consider Trading Up for in the 2025 NFL Draft
By Brandon Ray
The 2025 NFL Draft is fast approaching, and the Buffalo Bills, who are currently positioned to pick at No. 30, may need to make a move to secure some key players. While they are near the bottom of the first round, the Bills have a history of trading up, as seen with their picks of CB Kaiir Elam and TE Dalton Kincaid in recent years. General Manager Brandon Beane is willing to move up for a player he believes can make a significant impact, as long as it’s not too costly.
Here are three players the Bills should consider targeting, should they be available:
- DT Kenneth Grant, Michigan The Bills may not need to trade up for Kenneth Grant, but if another team is eyeing him, it might become necessary. Grant is a powerful defensive tackle with the ability to stop the run and generate pressure in the pocket. With the Bills looking for depth and a potential future starter to replace DaQuan Jones, Grant would be a great fit alongside Ed Oliver.
- WR Matthew Golden, Texas Matthew Golden is one of the standout performers from the NFL combine, running a 4.29 40-yard dash. His ability to break away from defenders would be a great asset for the Bills’ offense. In his one season at Texas, Golden nearly hit 1,000 receiving yards and scored 9 touchdowns. His impressive combine performance could lead him to go earlier than expected, so if the Bills want him, they may need to trade up.
- CB Will Johnson, Michigan Acquiring Will Johnson might be a long shot for the Bills, but it could be worth the risk. Johnson is regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in this draft. A recent mock draft suggested the Bills could trade up from No. 30 to No. 19, potentially giving up picks No. 30 and No. 62, to select Johnson. Pairing Johnson with Christian Benford would give the Bills two top-tier cornerbacks, bolstering their defense significantly.
The Bills have a strong roster, but these players could add much-needed talent in key areas, and Beane is likely to be active in making moves during the draft.
