The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing a potential issue as they approach the 2025 NFL Draft. With Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement, the team has had to navigate finding a new starting quarterback, and they are once again considering taking a quarterback early in the draft. Recently, the Steelers met with Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, who is quickly gaining attention as a potential first-round pick and is often linked to Pittsburgh at pick 21.
However, a significant mistake was made in the scheduling of these meetings. While the Steelers were meeting with Dart, Shedeur Sanders, a quarterback from Colorado, was putting on an impressive performance at the Colorado NFL Showcase. Sanders has a higher draft grade from many experts, but the Steelers had no top-level representation at his workout, potentially missing out on a key opportunity to evaluate him.
Sanders may not be a perfect prospect, as he has only average arm strength compared to other top quarterbacks. However, he has an undeniable “it” factor, showing poise under pressure and an ability to make plays when it matters most. Unfortunately, due to the scheduling error, the Steelers may not consider Sanders for a first-round pick, even if he becomes available later in the draft.
The situation could have been avoided if the Steelers had met with Dart on a different day, allowing them to attend Sanders’ showcase as well. Now, the team may be left with a tough choice, and fans are hoping this scheduling mix-up doesn’t lead them to pick the wrong quarterback in the 2025 draft.
