The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently waiting for a decision from Aaron Rodgers, the former Jets quarterback, about whether he will join the team. As they await his choice, various media members, including former New England Patriots defensive back Jason McCourty, have shared their opinions on how Rodgers could impact the Steelers.
McCourty believes that Rodgers would be a positive addition, potentially bringing the Steelers their first playoff win since 2016. On ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike, McCourty highlighted Rodgers’ impressive performance with the Jets last season, which he believes was better than the Steelers’ quarterbacks in recent years. He compared Rodgers to the likes of Mason Rudolph, Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, and Ben Roethlisberger in the later stages of his career.
McCourty pointed out that, in past playoff appearances, the Steelers’ quarterbacks did not perform at the level Rodgers could offer. He believes that with Rodgers under center, the team could not only make the playoffs but also secure a playoff win.
While Rodgers’ arrival is possible, it seems more likely that he would serve as a temporary solution during a transition year for the Steelers.
