Louisville Signee Mikel Brown Shines at McDonald’s All-American Game
Five-star Louisville commit Mikel Brown Jr. showcased his playmaking ability in Tuesday night’s McDonald’s All-American Game, leading the West team to a 105-92 victory over the East at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The future Cardinal contributed five points, two rebounds, and a game-high five assists in 19 minutes of action.
Brown, ranked No. 6 nationally by 247Sports, demonstrated his all-around skillset during the event. The 6’4″ guard from DME Academy (Daytona Beach, FL) previously won the event’s 3-point shootout and participated in the dunk contest. His performance marked Louisville’s first McDonald’s All-American appearance since Samuell Williamson in 2019.
“Brown’s game is swollen with skill, creativity, and shot-making,” said 247Sports’ Eric Bossi. The explosive guard chose Louisville over offers from Indiana, Kentucky, and two dozen other programs, becoming the second-highest rated recruit in modern Cardinals history.
Head coach Pat Kelsey praised his prized recruit: “Mikel is a generational talent who transforms the game. His skill, vision and leadership are unmatched, but it’s his character that truly sets him apart.” Brown’s international experience includes winning gold with Team USA at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup.
The playmaking guard officially committed to Louisville during a January 1st announcement at the KFC Yum Center. His addition gives Kelsey’s program a foundational piece as the Cardinals rebuild toward national prominence.
