Vikings May Trade Jordan Addison as Buffalo Bills Show Interest
The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly considering trading wide receiver Jordan Addison, who was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Buffalo Bills, who are in need of a new weapon for quarterback Josh Allen, are among the teams rumored to be interested in Addison. The Bills are also weighing the possibility of retaining Amari Cooper, but a trade for Addison could alter those plans.
Addison, a former USC standout, has two years remaining on his contract and is eligible for an extension after the 2025 season. Given the Vikings’ significant investment in Justin Jefferson, including a record-breaking contract last offseason, there may not be enough cap space to keep Addison long-term. In his first two seasons, Addison has been one of the most explosive receivers for Minnesota, recording 875 yards and 19 touchdowns. However, off-field issues, including a connection to a car accident involving Khyree Jackson and previous citations for reckless driving, have shadowed his career.
Despite his potential, the Vikings may look to trade Addison now, while his value is high, possibly seeking a first-round pick in return. The Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints are also teams that could get involved in the trade talks for Addison.
The Chiefs’ Dilemma: After losing DeAndre Hopkins to the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs are in need of a top receiver. Marquise Brown could return, but his one-year deal limits his long-term future with the team. If players like Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice can stay out of trouble, they could become key contributors, but the Chiefs may still look to Addison to fill the void left by Hopkins.
The Saints’ Rebuild: Chris Olave, another wide receiver reportedly available via trade, is likely to leave the New Orleans Saints after an injury-plagued season. With the team entering a rebuilding phase under head coach Kellen Moore, Olave may be dealt before his frustration with the team builds further. The Saints could look to trade for Addison to complement Rashid Shaheed and veteran Brandin Cooks.
Both the Chiefs and the Saints are potential suitors for Addison, which could complicate the Vikings’ trade options.
