In a recent episode of Always College Football, ESPN analyst Greg McElroy named Louisville Cardinals’ head coach Jeff Brohm as the most underrated coach in college football heading into 2025. McElroy, a former Alabama quarterback and national champion, commended Brohm for his transformative impact on the program, noting his success and innovative approach to coaching. Since returning to his alma mater in December 2022, Brohm has quickly turned the Cardinals into a formidable team, leading them to a 19-8 record over two seasons, including a 9-4 finish in 2024 capped by a dramatic 35-34 Sun Bowl win over Washington.
McElroy highlighted Brohm’s ability to rebuild programs, citing his success at Purdue where he led the team to 17 wins in his final two seasons—something Purdue hadn’t achieved in over 25 years. McElroy praised Brohm’s X’s and O’s expertise and his ability to create advantages for his players. He also noted that Brohm’s outstanding offensive game-planning is often overlooked due to his coaching outside of traditional powerhouse programs. With an 85-52 career record over 11 years, Brohm’s leadership is gaining recognition, especially with Louisville’s 8th-ranked recruiting class for 2026. McElroy suggested that Brohm’s trajectory positions the Cardinals as potential national contenders in the near future, making him a coach to watch.
