The Buffalo Bills have one of the most well-rounded rosters in the NFL, featuring a league MVP at quarterback, a seasoned offensive line, and a top-tier defense. However, as the 2025 Draft approaches, there are still areas that need strengthening, particularly along the defensive line, in the receiving corps, and in the secondary. To address one of these gaps, the Bills are expected to trade up in the first round to select Marshall edge rusher Mike Green.
In a mock draft, The Athletic’s Ben Standig predicted that the Bills will move up to secure Green, jumping ahead of both the Ravens and the Lions to fill their need for an edge rusher. Green, who led FBS with 17 sacks last season, impressed scouts with his performances at both the Senior Bowl and the Scouting Combine. His transition from the Thundering Herd to the NFL, however, will be watched closely.
Green’s draft stock has risen sharply due to his exceptional college career, but his past has been marred by controversy. He has denied allegations of sexual assault, which has raised questions surrounding his character. Despite this, the Bills are in need of an edge rusher after suspensions to veterans Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi for violating the league’s PED policy. If Green is drafted by Buffalo, he could make a significant impact on the Bills’ defense, enhancing their ability to compete with the top teams in the league.
