Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has always been humble in his interviews, often crediting his teammates after victories. So, when he received the MVP award after the last season, he maintained that same humble attitude. During his acceptance speech, Allen thanked the entire organization and ended with a memorable phrase that has become popular among Bills fans.
The team recently announced that they will be offering a t-shirt with his famous quote, “Be good, do good, God bless and go Bills,” which will be available for fans to purchase. The phrase has even been added to the team’s bio on social media.
Allen earned the MVP honor after a tight race with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Despite being considered the MVP frontrunner throughout the season, Allen fell behind when Jackson earned first-team All-Pro honors. However, Allen managed to secure enough votes to win, making history as the third player and first quarterback in Bills history to win the award.
In his acceptance speech, Allen thanked those who helped him along the way, including his fiancée, Hailee Steinfeld. He also expressed that the MVP is a team accomplishment, saying, “I know this is an individual award and it says Most Valuable Player on it, but I think it’s derived from team success and I love my team.”
The MVP award came as a consolation after the Bills fell short of reaching the Super Bowl, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. However, Allen received another reward: a $1.5 million roster bonus for being named MVP.
Allen had a standout season, leading the Bills to a 13-4 record and a fifth consecutive AFC East title. He accounted for 42 total touchdowns, with 28 passing touchdowns and 531 rushing yards, plus a memorable receiving touchdown when he caught a lateral from Amari Cooper during a win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite his impressive season, Allen was surprised to win the MVP over Jackson, expressing his respect for the Ravens quarterback’s performance.
