Ohio State’s football team will visit the White House on April 14 to be honored for their national championship win. Head coach Ryan Day confirmed the visit on Monday, expressing his pride in the invitation. “It’s an honor to be invited,” Day said, noting that attending the White House was something he had always admired while growing up. He emphasized that the visit is part of the celebration for the team’s achievement.
This visit will mark the second time a championship team has visited the White House since President Donald Trump’s second term began. Earlier this year, the Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers were the first team to be celebrated. The Philadelphia Eagles, champions of Super Bowl LIX, are also set to visit the White House on April 28.
Ohio State captured the national title after a perfect run in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes triumphed over Notre Dame in the championship game, following victories against Tennessee, Oregon, and Texas. This was the program’s first national title since 2014.
Vice President JD Vance, an Ohio State graduate and former senator from the state, will be involved in the ceremony.
This visit represents a significant milestone for the Buckeyes as they celebrate their victory with national recognition.
