The Buffalo Bills may be losing cornerback Rasul Douglas, who is now a free agent with no signs of returning to the team. Douglas was acquired from the Green Bay Packers at the 2023 trade deadline and became a key player in the Bills’ defense, starting 23 games and helping the team reach the AFC Championship game. Despite some struggles in coverage, Douglas recorded 88 tackles and four interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown in 2023.
NFL analyst Kristopher Knox highlighted Douglas as one of the top available free agents and suggested that the Detroit Lions, in particular, could be interested in signing him. The Lions recently lost a starting cornerback and might seek a veteran presence like Douglas to strengthen their secondary.
If the Bills lose Douglas, they may turn to the draft to add a new cornerback. NFL.com’s Chad Reuter predicted the Bills would trade up in the first round to select Florida State cornerback Azareye’h Thomas. Meanwhile, the team could also look to re-sign Christian Benford, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, with General Manager Brandon Beane indicating a desire to extend him.
