Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Robert Rochell has signed a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Originally a fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams, Rochell joined the Packers in 2023 after being taken from the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad.
Throughout the 2024 season, Rochell moved between the Packers’ active roster and practice squad, ultimately playing in 20 games over two seasons. Primarily a special teams contributor, he participated in 233 special teams snaps and played just one defensive snap.
His departure marks the third cornerback loss for Green Bay this offseason, following Eric Stokes’ move to the Las Vegas Raiders and Corey Ballentine’s signing with the Indianapolis Colts. Both Stokes and Ballentine had more defensive playing time than Rochell.
With Rochell gone, the Packers’ remaining cornerback group includes Jaire Alexander—who may be traded or released—along with Keisean Nixon, Nate Hobbs, Carrington Valentine, and several developmental players, including Kalen King, Kamal Hadden, Isaiah Dunn, and Kaleb Hayes.
Meanwhile, other Packers free agents such as tight end Tyler Davis, tackle Andre Dillard, and tight end John FitzPatrick remain unsigned.
