With free agency winding down, the Baltimore Ravens face challenges at cornerback following Brandon Stephens’ move to the New York Jets on a three-year, $36 million contract. This leaves the team with just two experienced corners: Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey.
Beyond them, younger players T.J. Tampa and Jalyn Armour-Davis are looking to step up. Both were fourth-round draft picks—Armour-Davis in 2022 and Tampa in 2024. With limited experience, this offseason could be their chance to make an impact.
Tampa, a former Iowa State standout, was once considered a potential second-round pick before the Ravens selected him at No. 140. However, injuries restricted him to just 18 snaps across seven games last season. Now fully healthy, he has an opportunity to showcase his skills as a physical, man-coverage corner with strong technique, despite not having elite speed.
Armour-Davis has battled injuries dating back to his time at Alabama, limiting his playing time in the NFL. Despite some improvements, he has yet to establish himself in a consistent role. While he hasn’t played more than 100 snaps in a season, his combination of size, speed, and physicality could prove valuable if he remains healthy.
With limited depth at cornerback, the 2025 season could be a defining moment for Tampa and Armour-Davis. If either player steps up, they could solidify their role and help fill the void left by Stephens’ departure.
