Vikings linked to Ex Packers CB in 2025 free agency.
Rasul Douglas was a key player for the Green Bay Packers during their 2021 season, stepping up in Jaire Alexander’s absence and becoming a fan favorite. His performance—five interceptions, including two returns for touchdowns—helped stabilize the Packers’ secondary at a crucial time.
However, the Packers traded him to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a third-round pick, a move that raised some eyebrows given his impact. While the trade netted a valuable draft pick, it left the Packers without a reliable corner, particularly with their secondary’s injury concerns.
Douglas has since had an up-and-down tenure in Buffalo. His early years there were strong, with solid ball skills and limiting quarterback efficiency.
However, his 2024 season saw a drop-off, allowing a 72.9% completion rate and a 122.0 passer rating against him. Despite this, he still retains his ability to create turnovers, which keeps him an appealing option in free agency. One team that might be interested is the Minnesota Vikings, especially if they lose veteran Stephon Gilmore.
With Brian Flores’ aggressive defense, Douglas could thrive in that system and provide the Vikings with a steady cornerback option.
As for the Packers, it’s unclear whether they would look to bring Douglas back. If they part ways with Alexander, there may be a need for reinforcements in the secondary. While re-signing Douglas could make sense given his familiarity with the Packers’ system, the fact that they traded him away in the first place may suggest they have moved on from that idea.
Whether he returns to form or remains inconsistent, his future could have a significant impact, especially if he joins a rival like Minnesota.
