It’s tough to see a key player like Omari Evans depart, especially after such a solid season. Losing a starter who was productive in both the receiving game and in the red zone can be a significant blow to the team. However, it’s also a reminder of how the transfer portal can shake up college football rosters, often leaving teams to adapt quickly.
For James Franklin and Penn State, the challenge will be filling that void at wide receiver. There’s talent already on the roster, but Evans’ presence and playmaking ability are tough to replace.
It will be interesting to see how the program handles the loss and if any younger players or newcomers can step up in 2025. How do you think Penn State should approach the offseason to keep building on their strong 2024 campaign?
On Wednesday night, Evans announced his commitment to the Washington Huskies through the transfer portal, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. Evans shared Fawcett’s post with the caption, “Hei5man run.”
After former five-star wide receiver Johntay Cook II unexpectedly left the program, Washington quickly filled the gap by securing Evans from the transfer portal. Evans chose the Huskies over Texas Tech, Syracuse, and Tennessee, opting to remain in the Big Ten.
Washington’s 2025 receiver room is packed with talent, including Denzel Boston, Kevin Green Jr., Audric Harris, and Rashid Williams.
Evans, who scored a touchdown in the Big Ten title game loss to Oregon and posted two catches for 55 yards and a touchdown in the Fiesta Bowl win over Boise State, brings significant potential to the Huskies for 2025. With just one year of eligibility left, Evans is set to be a key player in Washington’s offense next season.
