Notre Dame QB Legend Joins College Football Hall of Fame!
The 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class was revealed on Wednesday, featuring big names like Texas Southern’s Michael Strahan, Virginia Tech’s Michael Vick, and coaching legends Nick Saban and Urban Meyer.
But for Notre Dame fans, a familiar face makes the list: an All-American quarterback from the 1960s who helped lead the Fighting Irish to a national title in 1966.
This former star is the 56th member of the Notre Dame family to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, the most for any college program.
Over his three seasons as Notre Dame’s starting QB, he passed for over 1,200 yards each year, setting school records with 304 completions, 4,152 passing yards, and 27 touchdowns. He also rushed for 586 yards and 16 touchdowns.
After college, he went on to play eight seasons in the NFL, securing two Super Bowl wins as a backup quarterback with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He’ll be inducted alongside the rest of the 2025 class on December 9.
