Louisville has secured a commitment from defensive lineman Denzel Lowry, who transferred from Old Dominion. Lowry, who played in 38 games over four seasons at Old Dominion, announced his decision to join the Cardinals on Saturday. The 6-foot-1, 280-pound player had been a standout performer, earning all-conference honors for the past two years. After entering the transfer portal last weekend, he visited Louisville on Friday evening before making his commitment official.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lowry earned second-team All-State honors in high school, where he played for Landstown High School. He redshirted in 2021 but made an impact in the Myrtle Beach Bowl against Tulsa, recording four tackles. In 2022, Lowry played all 12 games, accumulating 35 tackles, five tackles for loss, and tied for the team lead with four sacks. He was named an All-Sun Belt honorable mention in 2023 after starting every game and leading the team’s defensive line with 46 tackles, including five tackles for loss and three sacks. Lowry earned similar honors again in 2023, finishing the season with 51 tackles, three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
Upon entering the transfer portal, Lowry received offers from several teams, including Memphis, Virginia Tech, Coastal Carolina, and UTEP. His commitment to Louisville marks the 15th transfer player to join the program this cycle.
