Talented shooting guard Kiyan Anthony from New York City, one of four 2025 prospects committed to Syracuse basketball, will soon visit the Hill, according to a recent media report.
Top national reporter Joe Tipton of On3 reports that the 6-foot-5 Anthony plans to attend the Syracuse-Wake Forest game at the JMA Wireless Dome. The Atlantic Coast Conference matchup is set for Tuesday, Dec. 31, with a 2 p.m. tip-off and will be televised on ESPN2. Following Syracuse’s tough loss to Maryland this past Saturday in Brooklyn, the Orange sit at 5-6 overall and 0-1 in ACC play. Syracuse will conclude its non-conference schedule when Bucknell visits Central New York on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m., airing on The CW.
Kiyan Anthony, a top prospect, will be present for the Syracuse home game against Wake Forest on New Year’s Eve, as confirmed by @On3Recruits. Anthony, who is the No. 1 player from New York in the 2025 class, is the son of NBA star Carmelo Anthony.
Last month, Anthony chose Syracuse over Southern California, one of his other finalists, and the Big Ten Conference. In November, Syracuse officially signed four players for its 2025 class, which was ranked No. 8 nationally in the 247Sports Composite at the time of writing. The other 2025 commits for Syracuse include five-star forward Sadiq White Jr. from Charlotte, N.C., four-star guard Luke Fennell from Melbourne, Australia, and three-star wing Aaron Womack from the Milwaukee area.
Syracuse basketball will soon get a visit from 2025 four-star commit Kiyan Anthony.
Anthony, a senior and key contributor for the powerhouse Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., is part of the prestigious Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic (“EYBL Scholastic”). Although Anthony has been sidelined due to injury recently, social media updates suggest that he is expected to return to the court soon.
Ranked as a top-30 national prospect in the 2025 class by On3, Anthony is also listed in the top 35 by both the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Ranking. He is considered a top-10 shooting guard and the No. 1 player from New York state in his class.
The Syracuse coaching staff has prioritized Anthony for a long time in his recruitment. He received a scholarship offer from the Orange in November 2022. In late October of the previous year, Anthony took an official visit to Syracuse, with some reports earlier this year indicating he was considering a second official visit before finalizing his decision. During the fall recruiting period in early September 2024, Anthony also had an in-home visit with Syracuse coaches. The coaching staff has likely watched him play in both high school and AAU games, including his standout performances for Team Melo in Nike’s EYBL league.
Top On3 national analyst Jamie Shaw recently offered this evaluation of Kiyan Anthony, the son of Syracuse legend Carmelo Anthony: “Scoring is the thing with Kiyan Anthony. He is wired to score the ball. And, year over year, his game has continued on an upward trend. Standing 6-4/6-5, he has a good frame with nice length. Good positional size. Offensively, Anthony has good touch with a solid base in his jump shot. He is comfortable off the bounce or the catch. He is starting to show comfort as a go-to type scorer.
Anthony plays confidently. He will need to continue developing the handle. This will also help his efficiency and help in learning (and getting to) his spots on the floor. Taking a less-is-more offensive approach will help his overall threat as a scorer. He has solid defensive anticipation off the ball. Will need to continue adding strength. The range is deep, and he has an array of off-balance or step-back type moves to get a clean look. Anthony is already producing big numbers and he still has some ceiling to continue growing into as a player.”
