Quarterback Brady Allen, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month, is now expected to return to the University of Louisville. Allen, a former Purdue transfer who has spent the past two seasons with the Cardinals, has removed his name from the portal, as confirmed by 247Sports analysts Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer, with additional confirmation from Cardinal Authority sources.
At 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, Allen faced significant competition at Louisville, first behind Jack Plummer and then Tyler Shough in 2023. During this past season, he appeared in limited action, playing two snaps in the opening game against Austin Peay and one snap against Kentucky. He also saw four snaps during the 2022 season against Murray State. With Shough departing to prepare for the NFL Draft, Harrison Bailey is set to start for the Cardinals in the Sun Bowl.
Louisville has recently signed former USC quarterback Miller Moss for next season, adding to a quarterback room that already includes Allen, Bailey, and true freshman Deuce Adams. Additionally, the team is set to welcome incoming freshman Mason Mims in January.
Allen, who hails from Fort Branch, Indiana, and attended Gibson Southern High School, was ranked as the No. 223 overall player, the No. 10 quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class, and the No. 5 player in Indiana. He originally chose Purdue over offers from multiple programs, including Cincinnati, Indiana, and Wisconsin. In his freshman year at Purdue, Allen played sparingly, completing one of three passes for eight yards against Indiana State.
