Alabama transfer Emmanuel Henderson Jr. has committed to Kansas, giving the Jayhawks a key addition to their offense.
On Monday, 247Sports reported that Henderson, a wide receiver transfer from Alabama, is expected to join head coach Lance Leipold and the Jayhawks.
Henderson arrives with five career catches for 96 yards and one season of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-1 receiver played a rotational role for Alabama’s offense, logging the fourth-most snaps among wide receivers in 2024 with 146 total snaps, averaging 12 per game.
He was targeted 10 times, catching four passes for 82 yards, and was also an important special teams contributor, accumulating over 450 special teams snaps during his time with the Crimson Tide. Henderson appeared in 13 games as a true freshman in 2022, nine games in 2023, and every regular-season game in 2024.
Coming out of high school, Henderson was a four-star recruit and a top-100 prospect. He was ranked the No. 59 overall prospect in the 2022 class by 247Sports, the No. 2 running back nationally, and the No. 3 recruit from Alabama.
He chose Alabama over offers from schools such as Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and USC. Initially evaluated as a running back, Henderson made the transition to wide receiver while at Alabama. His high school scouting report noted his multi-sport background, excelling in basketball and track, where he ran a 11.40-second 100-meter dash as a sophomore.
As a football player, he was described as a dynamic runner with good initial burst, dangerous cutback ability, and impressive moves at the second level. While his top-end speed was seen as adequate, there was significant potential for improvement given his frame and gait.
Henderson was viewed as one of the nation’s top running back prospects in the 2022 class, with long-term potential as a high-major impact player and early-round NFL Draft candidate.
