The Florida State Seminoles had a challenging season, securing only two wins out of their 12 games. Fans expressed their frustration with chants calling for the firing of head coach Mike Norvell almost every week.
However, the team received some positive news on Sunday evening through the NCAA transfer portal. According to On3, FSU secured a commitment from four-star wide receiver Duce Robinson, a 6-foot-6 sophomore from USC, who is ranked as the No. 6 overall player and the No. 5 wide receiver in the transfer portal based on On3’s rankings.
Robinson, the son of former FSU wide receiver Dominic Robinson, finished fifth in receiving for the Trojans this season, with 23 catches, 396 yards, and five touchdowns. Over two seasons at USC, Robinson accumulated 39 receptions, 747 yards, and seven touchdowns, averaging an impressive 19.7 yards per catch.
The addition of Robinson is a significant boost for the Seminoles, who will be losing three of their top four receivers—Ja’Khi Douglas, Malik Benson, and Kentron Poitier—to graduation.
Robinson is expected to form a potent 1-2 combination next season with rising junior Hykeem Williams, who recorded 16 receptions for 187 yards and a touchdown in the current season as FSU’s No. 4 receiver.
Ranked as the No. 19 overall recruit and the top tight end in the 2023 class, Robinson hails from Phoenix, Arizona. He chose USC over offers from top programs like Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas.
With Robinson’s departure, USC has now lost three of its top five leading receivers this season to the transfer portal. Zachariah Branch entered the portal last week and is planning visits, while Kyron Hudson recently committed to Penn State.
USC’s remaining top receiving duo consists of Makai Lemon (46 catches, 665 yards, 3 touchdowns) and Ja’Kobi Lane (36 catches, 398 yards, 9 touchdowns).
