The University of Louisville football program has strengthened its roster with the addition of offensive lineman Carter Guillaume and safety Rodney Johnson, as announced on December 20, 2024. This brings the total number of new players to nine during the current signing period.
Guillaume, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, was a standout freshman offensive lineman at Southeast Missouri State. He played all 11 games as a starting left guard and earned a spot on the FCS Football Central Freshman All-American team. His performance helped the Redhawks claim a share of the Big South-OVC Championship, with the team reaching as high as No. 6 in national rankings and making it to the FCS playoffs. The Redhawks’ offense was among the best in the country, ranking fourth in passing and 30th in fewest sacks allowed. Guillaume, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound athlete, was also a two-time All-State honoree at St. Xavier High School, where he served as a team captain.
Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound safety, played in all 12 games for Southern University, helping the Jaguars secure the SWAC Western Division Championship before losing to Jackson State in the SWAC title game. Johnson recorded 35 tackles and one interception, contributing to the team’s 8-5 record. In his junior year, he had 43 tackles and five pass break-ups. Johnson started his college career at Stephen F. Austin before transferring to Southern, where he played three seasons. A product of Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Johnson was part of a team that won four state championships and earned national recognition in track and field, including being a three-time All-American.
