Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and actor Hailee Steinfeld took to Instagram on Friday to share a significant moment with their followers — 20.3 million for Steinfeld and 1.3 million for Allen. The post featured Allen on one knee, proposing to Steinfeld on a grassy ridge overlooking water. The picturesque scene was enhanced by candles and a floral arch framing the couple.
The NFL congratulated the pair on X (formerly Twitter), reposting the image with a message accompanied by a ring and heart emoji.
The proposal likely took place along the California coastline, where Allen spends his offseason. It appears to have occurred during the Bills’ bye week. Allen, however, made no mention of the engagement during his Wednesday press conference as the AFC East-leading Bills (9-2) prepared to face the San Francisco 49ers. When asked about his bye week, Allen smiled and responded, “Fantastic. It was great. Got some sun. Hung out with family. It was fantastic.”
Allen and Steinfeld were first linked romantically in the spring of 2023 after being spotted dining together in New York City. Though Allen later confirmed their relationship, he initially requested privacy regarding Steinfeld’s identity. Since then, Steinfeld has become a regular attendee at Bills home games, and the couple even hosted a Halloween party this year.
Steinfeld, 27, is a Los Angeles native who began her acting career at age 10. She earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her role in the Coen brothers’ True Grit (2010) and a Golden Globe nomination for The Edge of Seventeen (2016).
Her other notable credits include Bumblebee, Dickinson, Marvel’s Hawkeye, and voice roles in the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse films. Beyond acting, Steinfeld ventured into music with her breakout role in Pitch Perfect 2 (2015), releasing multiple singles and two EPs, including Half Written Story (2020).
Allen, 28, has become one of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks since being drafted by the Bills in the first round of the 2018 draft out of Wyoming. He holds numerous franchise records for single-season and career passing and scoring.

After more than a year of dating, the NFL star and Steinfeld have officially taken their relationship to the next level, solidifying their status as a beloved couple among fans.

Speculation grew after TMZ released paparazzi photos in July 2023, capturing Allen and Steinfeld sharing a kiss during a trip to Mexico. The couple later made their romance Instagram official in July 2024 when Allen shared a photo of them together in Paris.
