Illinois football is having one of its best seasons in nearly 20 years, with the potential for a ninth win if they defeat Northwestern in the final game of the regular season. This would mark their first nine-win season since 2007. A major factor in the team’s success is the standout performances from key players, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
Two Illinois wide receivers, Pat Bryant and Zahkari Franklin, are gaining attention as potential NFL prospects following impressive seasons. Pro Football Focus recently released its 2025 NFL Draft big board, which ranks the top 250 college players likely to be selected. Bryant is ranked No. 153 overall, positioning him in the mid-4th round. He has posted career-high numbers with 50 receptions, 914 yards, and 9 touchdowns this season. His 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame makes him an appealing target for NFL teams.
Franklin, who transferred from Ole Miss, is listed at No. 236 on the board, placing him in the late-7th round. As the active leader in receiving yards in college football, his size (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) and impressive catch ability make him a strong candidate, particularly as a slot receiver.
In addition to Bryant and Franklin, other Illinois players, such as offensive lineman JC Davis and edge rusher Seth Coleman, may also attract NFL attention. Davis, ranked as the No. 191 offensive tackle, has been solid for the Illini this season, while Coleman, with 54 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a strong physical presence (6-foot-5, 250 pounds), could be a valuable asset for NFL teams.
