Florida State’s recruiting class has faced significant challenges since the start of the 2024 season. The team’s struggles on the field have been a key factor in the recent losses off the field, and those setbacks are beginning to accumulate.
On Tuesday, three-star offensive lineman Daniel Pierre Louis announced that he was decommitting from Florida State and flipping his commitment to the Florida Gators. Pierre Louis had originally committed to the Seminoles in October but decided to reconsider after an official visit to Gainesville and following coaching changes in Tallahassee.
The Florida native becomes the first of Florida State’s four (now three) offensive line commitments to move away from the class. Meanwhile, five-star Solomon Thomas, four-star Mario Nash Jr., and four-star Peyton Joseph are all reportedly considering reopening their recruitments.
Pierre Louis is the second member of Florida State’s recruiting class to defect to the Florida Gators. Former quarterback commitment Tramell Jones Jr. also pledged to Florida over the weekend following a visit to Gainesville.
The 6-foot-4.5, 290-pound offensive lineman is ranked as the No. 968 overall prospect, the No. 64 interior offensive lineman (IOL), and the No. 125 recruit in Florida for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
With Pierre Louis’s decommitment, Florida State now has 12 verbal commitments in their 2025 class, with the Early Signing Period set to begin on December 4. The loss causes their class ranking to drop from No. 35 to No. 44 in the country.
