Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman has been ruled out for the Week 11 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Just one day after the Bills secured their fifth consecutive victory to improve to an 8-2 record—marking their best start since 1993—head coach Sean McDermott confirmed that Coleman will not play in the highly anticipated game.
McDermott made the announcement on Monday, stating that Coleman, who suffered a wrist injury in the final minutes of the Bills’ Week 9 win over the Miami Dolphins, would miss his second consecutive game. McDermott had previously indicated that Coleman could be sidelined for multiple weeks due to the injury, which occurred when Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer’s helmet collided with Coleman’s hand.
Despite the injury, McDermott mentioned that he hopes to avoid placing Coleman on Injured Reserve, possibly taking advantage of the team’s upcoming Week 12 bye. The head coach also provided an update on wide receiver Amari Cooper, who is recovering from a wrist injury. McDermott noted that Cooper is improving and will be evaluated throughout the week to determine his availability for Sunday.
The Bills’ coach was uncertain about the specific requirements for Coleman’s return, noting that pain management would be a key factor in the decision. Similarly, fullback Reggie Gilliam, who has missed the last two games due to a hip injury, is also listed as “improving.” McDermott stated that Gilliam’s status for Week 11 would depend on his progress throughout the week.

Injuries also occurred during Sunday’s win over the Indianapolis Colts. Tight end Dalton Kincaid sustained a knee injury and, after trying to play through it, was forced to sit out the final quarter and a half. Right tackle Spencer Brown rolled his ankle but was able to return to the game after briefly being treated on the sidelines. McDermott said that both players would be monitored closely in the coming days before a decision is made on their availability for this week’s game.
The Bills will practice Wednesday, and McDermott hinted that further updates on player injuries may not be available until after the session. As usual, the coach is expected to keep injury details closely guarded.
