Lamar Jackson sends a message to Joe Burrow after Ravens’ win over Bengals.
The Thursday night clash between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens was one of the top games of the 2024 NFL season, showcasing two of the league’s premier quarterbacks: Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.
These matchups are always electric, and the latest encounter was no exception, with both quarterbacks putting on impressive performances. Burrow threw for a season-high 428 yards, tossed four touchdowns, and didn’t turn the ball over. Jackson, on the other hand, passed for 290 yards and also had four touchdowns.
However, the key stat was the final score, as Jackson led the Ravens to a thrilling 35-34 victory. This marked the second time this season that Jackson and the Ravens narrowly edged out Burrow’s Bengals, after a 41-38 overtime win in October.
Respect between Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow
After the game, Jackson expressed immense respect for Burrow, emphasizing the competitive nature of their matchups. “I just know that’s a great quarterback over there,” Jackson said of Burrow and the Bengals. “I just know it’s going to be a dogfight regardless, because he got dog in him.”
Although Burrow’s Bengals have shown they can compete, Jackson has dominated the rivalry overall. The two quarterbacks have faced off seven times in the regular season, with Jackson winning six of those contests. The Bengals defeated the Ravens in the 2022 Wild Card Round, but Jackson was injured and did not play in that game. Jackson now holds a 10-2 career record against Cincinnati.
Unless the Bengals and Ravens meet again in the playoffs—something that seems unlikely given Cincinnati’s current standing—Burrow will have to wait until next season for another chance to avenge these losses to Jackson and Baltimore.
