Former Bills Running Back Eyes AFC Return
The Buffalo Bills secured a strong 30-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10, solidifying their lead in the AFC East and demonstrating their defensive toughness. With an 8-2 record, the Bills remain at the top of the division and continue to show their balanced play on both offense and defense.
Meanwhile, former Bills running back Leonard Fournette, who was released from Buffalo’s practice squad earlier this season, is eyeing a potential return to the AFC. Fournette, who played a limited role with the Bills in 2023—recording just 12 carries for 40 yards—was brought in last October but had limited opportunities under the offensive scheme following the departure of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. His replacement, Joe Brady, appeared to favor depth running back Ty Johnson over Fournette in the backfield. Bills head coach Sean McDermott indicated that Fournette’s release was mainly due to the need for roster flexibility, especially with several injury concerns at the time.
Now, Fournette may find a new opportunity with the Cincinnati Bengals, who are grappling with backfield issues. After recent struggles from newly acquired running back Khalil Herbert, including a fumble in his Bengals debut, Cincinnati is exploring alternative options. With rookie Chase Brown leading a depleted backfield and veteran Zach Moss on injured reserve, the Bengals are reportedly considering both Fournette and Herbert as potential solutions. If Fournette is signed, he would likely start on the practice squad, with the potential to work his way into a more prominent role.

As the Bills look forward to their Week 11 matchup against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, a win would strengthen their position as an AFC powerhouse and reinforce their status as a dominant contender this season.
