Buffalo Bills Promote Former Alabama WR Tyrell Shavers for Sunday’s Game
Tyrell Shavers, who made his NFL debut with the Buffalo Bills on October 6, could see action for the second time in his career on Sunday when the Bills face the Indianapolis Colts. Shavers, along with wide receiver KJ Hamler, was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster on Saturday, making both players eligible for the game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The decision to promote Shavers and Hamler comes as the Bills deal with injuries in their receiving corps. Keon Coleman will miss Sunday’s game due to a wrist injury, while Amari Cooper (wrist) and Curtis Samuel (pectoral) are both listed as questionable after being limited in practice this week. Cooper, a former All-American at Alabama, missed last week’s game because of his wrist issue, while Samuel has been dealing with a pectoral injury.

Shavers was also called up from the practice squad for the Bills’ October 6 game against the Houston Texans, which ended in a 23-20 loss. In his debut, he played 16 offensive snaps and participated in eight special teams plays, but was not targeted by quarterback Josh Allen. Shavers will now look to earn his first career reception as he gets another opportunity to contribute on Sunday.
