The New York Yankees are reportedly looking to replace Anthony Rizzo with a multi-time Gold Glove winner. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Yankees are one of several teams set to aggressively pursue first baseman Christian Walker in free agency this winter. At least six teams, including the Yankees, New York Mets, Washington Nationals, and Arizona Diamondbacks, are expected to compete for his services.
Walker, 33, is a three-time Gold Glove award winner and has been with the Arizona Diamondbacks since 2017, including starting at first base during their 2023 World Series run. He posted a .251 batting average this past season with 26 home runs and 84 RBIs in 130 games, following back-to-back 30-plus homer seasons.

After parting ways with Rizzo by declining his $17 million club option for 2025, the Yankees now have a vacancy at first base. Walker’s combination of power and defense makes him an attractive free agent, although the Yankees are also reportedly eyeing other high-upside options for the position.
